Preparations for Paryaya by Sugundra Thirtha Swamiji begins

Udupi, Dec 11 (UNI) Rituals in preparation for the next biennial Paryaya by Sugundra Thirtha Swamiji of Udupi Puttige Mutt, who will be ascending the Paryaya Peeta for conducting Sri Krishna pooja at the famous Sri Krishna Temple here for the third term, began with planting Banana saplings here today.

As per customs, the Swamiji belonging one of the Asta Maths ascending the sacred Paryaya peeta perform the preliminary procedures one year in advance.

The 45-year-old Sugunendra Thirtha swamiji who had successively conducted his two year in office at the Sri Krishna Mutt. Under Paryaya system Sri Krishna pooja is conducted by the pontiffs of Asta maths in rotation carried out once in two years.

The pontiff, speakng on the occasion, announced that he would give priority for the beautification and cleanliness of the temple city. Paryaya would adapt the slogan of "Sundara Udupi-Krishnana Udupi" (Beautiful Udupi-Krishna's Udupi) on the model of epic city of Dwaraka. The math, proposed to approach the World Bank seeking financial assistance for the project, he added.
