Polonium found on 4 people in ex-spy probe-Germany

HAMBURG, Germany, Dec 11 (Reuters) Four people in Germany have been found to be contaminated with polonium-210, the substance used to poison ex-KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko, German police said today.

The ex-wife of Dmitry Kovtun, an associate of Litvinenko's who met him in London on the day Litvinenko took ill, her current partner and their two small children tested positive for traces of the highly-radioactive substance, German investigator Thomas Menzel told reporters in Hamburg.

It was unclear if the contamination was internal or external, he said.
