Petition against seizure of CDs/cassettes

Kochi, Dec 11 (UNI) A petition was filed by Mr K P Varghese, Managing Director of Wellgate Videos, Thiruvananthapuram, in the Kerala High Court today seeking to quash the FIR filed against him.

The petitioner told the Court that the Thiruvananthapuram city police raided his shop on November 30 last and took away 9,636 CDs/cassettes worth Rs 18,00,000.

The petitioner pleaded that if the seized CDs/cassettes were found to be genuine and legal having copy right, return the same to the him forthwith.

He also sought enactment of legislation for curbing video piracy.
