Opposition forces adjournment of House till lunch recess

Patna, Dec 11 (UNI) Agitated over the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar, Opposition members of the State Legislative Council today forced the adjournment of the proceedings of the House until lunch recess.

Soon after the proceedings of the House began, members of the RJD, Congress, LJP, CPI and the CPI(M) raised slogans against the poor law and order situation in the state and against the failure of the State government to tighten the noose on bureaucrats.

The members were also displaying placards inscribed with anti- government slogans.

Congress member Jyoti jumped on the table of the governments reporter and started raising slogans demanding safety and security of women.

RJD members-- Nawal Kishore Yadav, Badsah Prasad Azad, Bhim Singh, Geeta Devi, Azad Gandhi and Congress member Mahachandra Singh, CPI member Usha Sahni, CPI member Basudeo Singh were also raising anti-governmemt slogans.

Earlier, the Opposition members were raising slogans in protest against the failure of the government to check the crime. Some placards by the Opposition demanded the CBI inquiry into the killing of Prof Papiya Ghosh who was gunned down by criminals at her residence in Patna recently.

When the Opposition members did not pay any heed to repeated requests of the Chairman Arun Kumar, he adjourned the proceedings of the House till the lunch recess of the day.
