Demo to condemn defacing of Periyar statue

Puducherry, Dec 11: Activists of the Dravidar Kazhagam along with few other organisations and parties today stage a seven hour non-stop demonstration near the Swadeshi Cotton mills premises to condemn the desecration of Periyar statue at Srirangam recently.

Led by Kazhagam president Logu Iyyappan, the demonstrators raised slogans demanding that stringent action be taken against the culprits involved in the vandalism and adequate protection to the statues of Periyar.

Representatives of the PMK, RJD, Dravidar Peravai and Federation for peoples rights, among others, took part in the stir.
