Newly elected NCP MLA sworn in as member of Assembly
Shillong, Dec 11 (UNI) Newly elected MLA from Rongjeng constituency, Desang M Sangma was today sworn in as a member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
He was administrated the oath of office by Speaker Martin M Danggo in the well of the House.
Chief Minister J.D.Rymbai, leader of Opposition Admiral K Sangma along with other members of the House witnessed the ceremony.
With his induction, the strength of the NCP has risen to 8 in the 60-member House, while the ruling Congress has 29 members.
Talking to reporters after the House was adjourned for the day, Mr Sangma, a former militant leader of A'chik Liberation Matgrik Army, said his main task is to bring to economic development in the Garo hills.
