Myanmar Home Minister to visit India from Dec 17 to 22

New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) Myanmar Home Minister Major General Maung Oo would visit India from December 17 to 22 to discuss bilateral issues of concern.

Maj Gen Oo, who is coming on an invitation of Home Minsiter Shivraj Patil, would lead a five member high level delegation. The delegation would visit New Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad to study the progress and development achieved by India in various fields.

This is the first ever visit of the Home Minister of Myanmar to India. Earlier, the Home Secretary of Myanmar had visited New Delhi.

The Home Minister's visit is very significant in view of the long border that India and Myanmar share in the North East. The two countries are likely to discuss cooperation to prevent drug trafficking, cross border infilteration and insurgency in border areas.
