K'taka Govt asked to announce MSP for paddy
Mysore, Dec 11 (UNI) The Karnataka State Farmers Federation today urged the State Government to announce a minimum support price for paddy as the farmers were facing severe loss this harvesting season after the prices crashed.
Speaking to newspersons here, Federation Convener Kurabur Shanta Kumar said the Government should also establish purchase centres at taluk levels to help the farmers.
He appealed to the Government to install electronic weighing machines at all Agricultural Produce Marketing Committees as middlemen and purchasers were cheating the ryots in weight.
Stating that the subsidies provided to farmers were not reaching them properly, he asked the Government to adopt a system to provide subsidy directly to farmers.
