Kalam seen off from TN airport

Chennai, Dec 11 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam paid a transit visit to the city today after completing his day's engagements in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and later left for New Delhi by a special IAF Aircraft.

As per the original schedule, the President was to reach Renigunda airport from Nellore by an IAF Helicopter and leave for New Delhi by a special IAF aircraft.

But due to bad weather conditions at Nellore, the President's helicopter couldn't take off.

The President arrived here from Nellore by road and left for New Delhi, official sources said.

The President was received and seen off at the airport by State Director General of Police D Mukherjee, City Police Commissioner Latika Saran, City Additional Police Commissioner S R Jangid among other dignitaries.
