Investigators question key witness in Litvinenko's murder case
Moscow, Dec 11 (UNI) Investigators of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office and officers of the British Scotland Yard today interrogated Andrei Lugovoi, a Russian businessman and key witness in the murder of the former KGB agent Alexander Litivinenko, who died of radiation poisoning on November 23, in London.
Mr Lugovoi was questioned for three hours. No charges, however, have been brought against him yet.
"I was giving evidence only as a witness. I was officially notified about it before the interrogation," Mr Lugovoi told Itar-Tass, the official news agency of Russia.
"The meeting lasted more than three hours. I was questioned by personnel of the Prosecutor General's Office in the presence of Scotland Yard investigators," he added.
"No charges have been brought against me," Mr Lugovoi said adding he has given "irrefragable answers to all the questions asked." Expressing his willingness to cooperate in the case the Russian businessman said "If the investigators have additional questions to ask me, I will be ready to answer them anytime".
