Indian out of podium finish in 1000m kayak singles

Doha, Dec 11 (UNI) Lone Indian in the fray, Arambam Chingching Singh failed to secure a podium finish in 1000m kayak singles event as he stood last in the final here today.

Arambam clocked a dismal 5:13.110 to finish last in the six-kayakist field at West Bay Lagoon.

China's Liu Haitao won the Gold with a time of 4:25.136 while Uzbekistan's Aleksey Babadjanov (4:27.7762) and South Korea's Chul Wook Moon (4:30.796) bagged Silver and Bronze respectively.

Earlier, Arambam and Digvijay Singh Negi failed to book a place for the finals of 1000m kayak doubles event after finishing sixth in the semifinals while another Indian pair of Sawlabow and Maisnam Sanjit Singh also came last in the 1000m canoe doubles semifinal yesterday.
