Hong Kong based IT firm to start BPO operations in Bengal

Kolkata, Dec 11 (UNI) Close on the heels of investment proposals in West Bengal by MphaSis BPO and EXL Services, Hong Kong based IT firm Sanhwa, in collaboration with US based Eltec Group, will set up a fifty-seater Business Process Outsourcing centre in the state.

State IT department sources confirmed today that the company has already given a priliminary proposal to the state government.

The company would open a 50 seater BPO centre in Kolkata to handle English-based BPO work in India, chairman of Eltec Group P K Sandell told UNI.

The Hong Kong-based group would establish the facility in the city in partnership with a US company Eltec Group.

The Eltec Group chairman said, '' It's a first-of-its-kind operation in India by a Chinese firm.'' However, the investment proposal and other modalities like space is yet to be worked out by the state government and company.

There is a tremendous opportunity for BPO work of MNCs operating in China, which can be divided between India and China by setting up centres in India to handle English-based Outsourcing jobs and another by a Chinese firm back home to cater to Mandarin-based jobs, industry sources said.

A successful model of Indo-China BPO operation would open up a lot of opportunities for medium-scale companies, he said.
