Hideout busted in J and K, HM commander among four killed
Srinagar, Dec 11 (UNI) Four people, including a self-styled commander and a militant of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), were killed and a woman injured while a militant hideout was busted in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
An official spokesman said troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir launched a joint operation at village Sofigund Tral, of Pulwama district early this morning.
However, the militants opened fire when the security forces were sealing the area. Two militants were killed in the retaliatory fire.
The slain militants were later identified as Mohammad Shafi, a HM commander and an 'A' category militant involved in several militancy related incidents, and 'B' category Ghulam Hassan Sheikh alias Nadeem alias Zafar. Two AK rifles, five magzines, two grenades and a knife were also recovered from them.
An unidentified body was also recovered at Agling crossing while another body of a waman was fished out from river Jehlum in the down town city today, the spokesman added.
Militants shot at and wounded a woman named Maimuna, wife of one late Farooq Ahmad Wani at Magam in the central Kashmir district of Badgam. She was later hospitalised.
Security forces busted a hideout at Dull Khakadhri in Doda district and recovered five blankets, 50 kg rice, 40 kg wheat flour and four kg dry fruit. However, no one was arrested.
