HC directs state govt to file affidavit
Kochi, Dec 11 (UNI) Kerala High Court today directed the state government to file an affidavit on a petition that sought the removal of M Mukundan as President of the Kerala Sahithya Akademi.
The petitioner, William John, submitted before a Division Bench of Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice C N Ramachandran Nair that Mr Mukundan belonged to Mahe, an enclave of Puducherry, and was not a Keralite.
Hence he was not entitled to be appointed as President of the Akademi, he submitted.
The Court directed the petitioner to produce the relevant rules governing the appointment of the Akademi President and adjourned the case to December 18.
