HC directs Police to submit the records on girl to CBI

Chennai, Dec 11 (UNI) Madras High Court today directed the Inspector of Police, Villupuram West Police Station, to hand over to CBI, the entire records pertaining to the complaint, alleging kidnap of a Tenth Standard girl Student in 2004.

A division bench comprising Justice F M Ibrahim Kalifullah and Justice S Rajeshwaran gave the above directive, while posting to December 18, further hearing of the Hebeas Corpus Petition (HCP) filed by P M Veeramuthu of Villupuram District, seeking a direction to the police to produce her daughter Jansi Rani before the court and hand over her to him In his HCP, Mr Veeramuthu submitted that his second daughter Jansi Rani alias Lakshmi Bai was doing tenth standard in Government Higher Secondary School in Villupuram. On December 23, 2004, she went to her school for writing half-yearly examination. But she did not return home.

Mr Veeramuthu searched her in his relatives and friends houses, but she could not be traced. He lodged a complaint with the Inspector of Police, Villupuram West Police Station on December 30, 2004 and the police registered a case.

In the meantime, he reliably came to know that one Ahamed Basha, who was residing in the same area have kidnapped her. He circulated printed leaflets as per the direction given by the police with the photographs of Ahamed Basha and his daughter. Subsequently, he also sent a representation to the Chief Minister on February nine, 2005.

Mr Veeramuthu also gave a representation to the Villupuram District Collector on January 24, 2005. But till date, he has not restored his daughter. The police neither took any steps to trace out his daughter, nor informed him anything about his daughter. Hence the present petition, he added.
