Haryana disburses Rs 1331 crore on paddy purchase

Chandigarh, Dec 11 (UNI) The Haryana government has disbursed a sum of Rs 1331 crore to the farmers for purchase of their 20.45 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of paddy during this season so far.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said Hafed had purchased 9.02 lakh MTs of paddy and made a payment of Rs 587 crore followed by Food and Supplies Department which had paid Rs 395 crore for the purchase of 6.07 lakh MTs of paddy.

He said the Haryana Agro Industries Corporation had purchased 2.44 lakh MTs of paddy and the farmers had been given a sum of Rs 161 crore while Confed had disbursed Rs 115.50 crore.

Similarly, Haryana Warehousing Corporation paid Rs 67.14 crore for the purchase of 1.03 lakh MTs of paddy.

He said the government had arranged cash credit limit to the tune of Rs 1000 crore during the current kharif season while Rs 839 crore were arranged during the previous kharif season-2005.
