First private FM Radio to go on air in Jammu

New Delhi, Dec 11: A new avenue of entertainment will open up for the people of Jammu when the first private FM Radio--the BIG 92.7 --goes on air here next week.

To enhance its appeal to listeners, the Radio Station has signed in film star Abhishek Bachchan as the Brand Ambassador.

Having bagged licenses to roll out in 45 centers across India, the BIG 92.7 has already started operations in the metros of Hyderabad, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai with an aim to touch 200 million listeners.

CEO of the Radio Station Tarun Katial said the programming mix of the station has been put together after much research and understanding of the listeners' requirements.

''It is our aim to create content that is relevant, credible and has an aspirational value to the listeners. We are completely geared and excited to entertain the people of Jammu,'' he said here.

The launch in the city is part of the company's endeavor to make itself available in earlier untapped cities of the country, he added.

Mr Katial said programs on BIG 92.7 FM were based on extensive research and in-depth analysis of the preferences of the people of Jammu. The Radio Station will not only offer local flavour and city-connect through relevant content and interesting information and updates, but will also play music which appeals to the local tastes. A strong infrastructural support has been put in place to ensure the information was not only relevant but also highly credible, he added.

BIG 92.7 FM is part of Adlabs Films, Ltd Mr Katial said the company plans to take FM radio as a medium of entertainment not only to the key metros, but also to the virgin markets that have never before experienced this medium of entertainment.

Special attention has been paid to the selection of Radio Jockeys for the Station who will be the voice and personality of the channel, added the CEO.
