Engine of a goods train caught fire on Gede line

Krishnagar, Dec 11 (UNI) Train services on Gede line of Sealdah section of Eastern Railway affected for hours this morning after an engine of a goods train caught fire, ER sources said.

The engine of the goods train,which was going towards Bangladesh, caught fire accidentally at an unmanned area inbetween Ranaghat and Bamkimnagar railway stations this morning. However, the emergency services workers of the railway brought the flames under control qucikly and towed the damaged engine to a carshed.

Another diesel engine was then fixed to the goods train to chug off towards Bangladesh.

This accident casued disruption to train servcies in the peak hours.
