Dola in semis, Reema loses in women's archery

Doha, Dec 11 (UNI) European Grand Prix gold medal winner Dola Banerjee shot her way into the semifinals while her team mate Reena kumari lost in the quarter-finals in the women's individual archery round at the Asian Games here today.

Dola fired out Anbarasi Subramaniam of Malaysia 112-104 in the pre-quarterfinals and then put it across Kwon Un Sil (North Korea) 111-103 to book the semi-final berth, Reena Kumari won her quarter-final match against Uzbekistan's Munira Nurmanova 100-83 but was beaten by Novia Nuraini of Indonesia 98-108 in the quarter-finals.

Dola had a total of 58 in the first series in which she shot 10,10,10,10,9,9 and 54 in the second series -x,10,9,9,8,8.

She had one golden hit and six 10-pointers as against Anbarasi's only two 10-pointers. The Malaysian girl shot 9,9,9,9,8,7 in her first series for 51 and then had 10,10,9,9,9,6 to total 53 for the second series.

In the quarter-finals against Kwon Un Sil, Dola shot 10,9,9,9,9,9 (55) and x,x,10,9,9,8 (56) to end her series with two golden hits and four 10-pointers.

Kwon shot 10,10,9,9,7,7 (52) and 10,9,9,8,8,7 (51) in her series.

Reena beat Munira by scoring 10,190,8,8,8,7 (51) and 10,10,9,9,7,4 (49). The Uzbek girl shot 10,9,8,7,7 and missed the last for a total of 41 and then had a series of 8,7,7,5,5 (42) to total 83.

In the quarters, Reena started promisingly but her last two rounds in the first and two last in the second were her undoing.

The Indian fired 10,9,9,8,7,7 (50) and 10,9,9,8,6,6 (48) and failed to cross the three digit mark.

The Indonesian was more steady shooting x,x,10,9,9,9 (57) and 9,9,9,9,8,7 (51).
