DOHA, Dec 11 (Reuters) Thai javelin thrower Buoban Pamang's gold medal at the Asian Games was a dream come true -- literally.

''I dreamt of diamonds and dreaming of diamonds in Thailand signifies good luck,'' the 22-year-old said.

''Before coming to the Games, I was not confident of winning and was just hoping for bronze. I never thought about winning gold,'' she told the Bangkok Post.

The twice South-East Asian Games champion threw a personal best 61.21m to take victory at the Khalifa stadium.

Thailand lie fifth in the medals standings with eight gold, 10 silver and 21 bronze medals.

The Kingdom's best chance of more gold comes in the boxing, where four of their fighters have made it through to the finals.
