Curfew lifted in Wani
Nagpur, Dec 11 (UNI) Curfew was lifted in Wani in Yavatmal district of Vidarbha region today following an improvement in the situation.
The curfew was imposed after some stone pelting incidents during protests over the death of a farmer in police firing on Friday at the cotton procurement centre in the district.
The curfew was lifted this morning and the situation was peaceful in the town, Yavatmal District Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdur Rehman told UNI.
A farmer, Dinesh Tukaram Gugal, died due to a bullet injury sustained in police firing. Agitated farmers went berserk and resorted to stone throwing and ransacked the cottong purchase centre in Wani town following which curfew was clamped last Saturday.
