Country's top golfers for Ladies Western India Open
Mumbai, Dec 11 (UNI) Forty of the country's top ladies golfers will descend on to the greens of the Bombay Presidency Golf Club Course to participate in the 57th Ladies Western India Open Amateur Golf Championships begining tomorrow.
The tournament, one of the four zonal rounds that decide the players' standings for selection into the Indian team, being held under the aegis of the Indian Golf Union Ladies Section (IGULS), is being sponsored by WIGA and co-sponsored by BPCL, Kaya Skin Clinic, Needs of Life Co-op Bank and Sinima Meadows Ltd.
Among the leading golfers on view will be Sweta Galande (handicap -5), Pune's Dr. Rajeshwari Agawal (-8), Chandigarh's Mani Chander (-8), Delhi's Shruti Naik (-7), Mehar Atwal (-8) and Shreya Ghai (-9).
Players will be divided into three categories, according to their handicap, the gold division for golfers with the handicap of 0-12, the silver division 13-24 and the bronze division 25-36.
In order to make the BPGC course more challenging for ladies, the yardage on the first nine holes has been increased by 155 yards, divided over the third, 5th and 7th holes.
