Congress rejects CM's appeal to discuss Singur land issue
Kolkata, Dec 11 (UNI) Rejecting West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's appeal to sit for the discussion, the state Congress today said the government should stop acquiring the farm land at Singur immediately.
Congress working president Pradip Bhattacharyya told newspersons here that they were not ready for the discussion until the government stopped the acquisition of agricultural land.
He alleged that the government was forcibly acquiring the farm land at Singur with the help of police and demanded that the Chief Minister immediately reveal the exact quantity of the acquired land to clear the confusion.
'' However, we are again appealing to Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee to withdraw her fast, '' he said and condemned the recent attack on journalists at Sheoraphuli.
The Congress would organise a series of law violation programmes in protest against the agricultural land acquisition.
A massive rally would also be held on January four to protest the government's proposed move to acquire the land at Nandigram of East Midnapore for the nuclear plant.
