Congress alleges conspiracy in photo identitity card
Agartala, Dec 11 (UNI) The opposition Congress in Tripura has alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to postpone the Election Commission's decision to introduce fair electoral roll with photo identity cards by a section of state election department workers with the help of ruling CPI(M) party.
In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, opposition leader in the state assembly Ratan Lal Nath alleged that some responsible persons in the state election department and ruling CPI(M) party have been conspiring to postpone the CEC steps to introduce correct voters list and issue photo identity cards.
Mr Nath alleged that the process is being slowed down by not taking the photos online.
Following this off-line photo system, the work for 100 per cent photo identity card would not be completed in time, the opposition leader alleged in his letter.
He demanded to the concerned department to take necessary steps on war footing to stop the 'malpractices' and sought 'exemplary punishment' for those who were involved in Image Date related matter.
