Centre approves KMC's Rs 24.75 cr housing development project

Kolhapur, Dec 11 (UNI) The Union Government has approved the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation's(KMC) Rs 24.75 crore housing project for slum areas under the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme(IGSDP).

Informing this at a press conference here today, KMC Commissioner Kunal Kumar said some 22 houses at city's different slums will be constructed with necessary infrastructure at the area.

Each beneficiary will get a 269 sq ft house, he said adding the Union Government will contribute 80 per cent of the amount, ten percent will be given by the State Government while the beneficiaries will bear the remaining ten percent expenditure.

The Union Government has sanctioned 12 such projects - five from Rajsthan, six from Uttar Pradesh and one from Maharashtra, which is the KMC project, he pointed out and said the project will be implemented within three-year period.
