Middle schools to get NCERT books: Mein

Itanagar, Dec 10: Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Chowna Mein has announced that the students of middle school (Class-I to VIII) would get NCERT books from this year through the private publishers as NCERT has expressed its inability to meet demands. Addressing a function here yesterday, Mr Mein said the NCERT books were mandatory for class-XI to XII but a high level official decision was taken to meet such demands from various quarters.

While a chapter on Arunachal environment, highlighting its rich flora and fauna, would be included in environmental education made mandatory by the Supreme Court, he assured to discuss with officials the proposal for incorporating the rich cultural heritage, traditions and life style in supplementary books in coordination with the research department. A chapter on the rich history of the state would also be considered, he added.
