Govt will extend help to farmers in border areas: Kumaraswamy

Bangalore, Dec 10 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaramswamy today assured that the State would extend full support to farmers in the border district to tetch a good price for their produce and provide more funds for the schools in these areas.

Speaking at a function organised as part of ''Jagruthi Jatha,'' a convention attended by people living in the border areas of the State, he said that steps would be taken to prevent farmers in the border areas to sell their produce in neighbouring states.

''We will give priority to help the farmers to get best prices in the border areas as also take steps to improve the conditions of the primary and secondary schools. It is disturbing that even after 50 years of formation of the state, people in these places continue to suffer,'' he added.

He said the government had sanctioned Rs 200 crore for the improvement of primary schools in remote areas.

He said the special assembly session in border city of Belgaum, which had now been declared as the second capital, would continue and the site for building for the secretariat building would be finalised shortly.
