Dasmunsi felcitiates Pt Kishan Maharaj

Kolkata, Dec 9 (UNI) Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today felicitated Pundit Kishan Maharaj for his outstanding contribution to classical music.

The felicitation programme was organised by Shakhri Begum Memorial Trust at Science City Auditorium this evening.

The Minister recalled the days when he had to wait to listen to the programme of the purcussionist. Mr Dasmunsi also praised Ustad Rashid Khan for setting up this trust in memory of his mother.

Pt Kishan Maharaj lauded Mr dasmunsi the for promoting AIR and the artistes. He, however, urged the Ministry to open a channel exclusively for classical music.

The felicitation was part of the annual concert of Shakhri Begum Memorial Trust, which not only honours legends, but also recognises contribution and nurtures talents of Indian music.
