Action shifts to Delhi for Gowda's election

New Delhi, Dec 10 (UNI) To build pressure on the party leadership for another term for State BJP President Sadananda Gowda, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa arrived here tonight to have closed door meetings with his supporting MLAs and ministers. .

Mr Yediyurappa, an ardent supporter of Mr Gowda, will press for another term for him in the organisational elections.

The leader will be meeting BJP President Rajnath Singh and other party stalwarts. Reports say that 40 MLAs are in the capital to support the candidature of Mr Gowda.

The other side of the tug of war is led by loyalists of former Union Minister Ananth Kumar.

Mr Yediyurappa will consult senior BJP MPs from the state before meeting Mr Rajnath Singh.

Sources say the party as well as the RSS are in favour of another term for Mr Gowda. However, the delay in making an official announcement is a source of consternation among the contending groups.
