Dasmunshi felificates Pt Kishan Maharaj

Kolkata, Dec 09 (UNI) Pundit Kishan Maharaj was today felicitated by Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi for his outstanding contribution to classical music.

The falicitation programme was organised by Shakhri Begum Memorial Trust at Science City Auditorium this evening.

The minsiter recalled the days when he had to wait long to listen the programme of the purcussionist. Mr Dasmunshi also praised Ustad Rashid Khan for setting up this trust in memory of his mother.

Pundit Kishan Maharaj while lauding the role of the minsiter for promoting AIR and the artistes, he, however, urged the ministry to open a channel exclusively for classical music.

The felicitation was part of the annual concert of Shakhri Begum Memorial Trust, which not only honours legends, but also recognises contribution and nurture talents of Indian music.
