CPI (ML) demands judicial inquiry on police attack at Singur
Kolkata, Dec 9 (UNI) CPI (ML)-Liberation today demanded a judicial probe into yesterday's police lathicharge on a Singur bound protest rally and punishment of policemen allegedly involved in attacking the people.
CPI (ML)-L also made it clear that there should not be any discussion unless the farmlands were returned to the cultivators at Singur, party general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharjee said.
''The police attack on scribes and processionists was pre-planned and politicallly motivated'', a statement, issued by Bhattacharjee, claimed.
He claimed that an ''undeclared state of emergency'' was in order at Singur and the administration had targetted the journalists and CPI (ML)-L supporters without any provocation.
Altogether ten people, including five photo journalists, were injured when police used batons on a procession led by CPI (ML)-L yesterday.
'' We think that talks could be possible if the government withdraw 144 Cr PC, release of all party workers without condition and stop acquisition of farm lands'', Mr Bhattacharjee said.
He said there was plenty of site for Tata Motors' small car project in West Bengal but once the farmers were evicted from Singur, they will be rendered homeless.
The party has decide to organise farmers' movement throughout the state, he added.
