Mumbai, Dec 8 (UNI) A local court today observed that Deepak Sadashiv Nikhalje, younger brother of underworld don Chhota Rajan, will be given 72 hours notice in the event of his arrest in connection with the violence in parts of north-east Mumbai to protest the desecration of statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Kanpur.
Disposing of the two anticipatory bail pleas by Nikhalje, in Trombay and Tilaknagar cases, Judge M L Tahilyani deferred the Ghatkopar and Shivajinagar cases to December 13.
The prosecution informed Additional Sessions Judge Tahilyani that the anticipatory bail application in the Trombay case so far had no offence registered against Nikhalje while enquiry is under progress with regard to Tilak Nagar case, where no complaint has been registered against him.
In Ghatkopar and Shivajinagar cases, police had not yet filed their report to the court.
Nikhalje had yesterday filed four anticipatory bail application before the Sessions Court praying for relief in the cases registered against him in Tilak Nagar, Trombay, Ghatkopar and Shivajinagar police station areas under various sections of Indian Penal Code, including the prevention of damages to Public Property Act.
However, he had already obtained anticipatory bail from the same court on December four in a similar case registered against him in Chembur police station area.
Meanwhile, Nikhalje who was arrested in a rioting case with Nehrunagar police station, got bail yesterday from Vikhroli Metropolitan Magistrate on a bond of Rs 5,000.
Police had registered cases against him in various police station areas after Dalit activists, led by him, indulged in stone pelting of the buses on November 28.
