Bypoll result reflects government's poor performance: BJP
Itanagar, Dec 8 (UNI) The BJP in Arunachal Pradesh today termed ''an eye-opener'' the Congress candidate's defeat on December 4 Roing bypoll and alleged that the culture of luring voters with money could no longer befool electorates.
The BJP, which could only manage a meagre 326 out of 9005 votes polled claimed that the ruling party, despite stationing almost all Ministers and the MLAs and putting the entire state machinery, for ensuring victory of its candidate Dature Miuli, could not succeed as people were ''fed up'' with false promises on transparency and good governance.
Terming it a ''good lesson'' by the people on the poor performance and corrupt government, the BJP claimed the changing mindset of the voters exposed that the Congress no longer enjoyed the support of the people.
''Days are not far when the face of the government would also witness a change,'' the BJP commented in a statement.
The BJP claimed that though the party lost the by-election, it could reach people's hearts by effectively unearthing the misrule of the government, which was running without proper plan and logical strategy.
While congratulating the newly-elected Independent MLA Laeta Umbrey, the BJP wished that the aspirations of the people of Roing in particular and the state as a whole would be honoured and he would be able to keep his commitment to the people.
