Women's cricket from Dec 10

Lucknow, Dec 7 (UNI) The 10th All India Nargis Dutt Memorial women's cricket championship will be held here from December 10 to 14.

Briefing the media here today, tournament organising secretary of Mohd Nawab said the 40 overs a side league-cum-knockout basis event would be played at Babu Banarasi Das Sports Stadium and Northern Railway Stadium simultaneously.

In all, 8 teams namely Air India, Delhi, Eastern Railway, Chhattisgarh, UP Timber Club, Aligarh Cricket Club, Uttaranchal and UP Cricket club have already send confirmation for the tournament.

However, only six teams among them would get entry.

UP Women's Cricket Association president Siraj Mehdi said earlier the plan was to organise the event at the K D Singh Babu and Chowk stadiums and the Association had even submitted the required amount for the booking.

However, the authorities turned down the request saying the stadiums would be allotted only to those associations, which registered themselves under the Sports Act enacted by UP government.

The tournament will be inaugurated by union minister of state for steel Akhilesh Das.
