WB govt to set up a B-school in JV with MIT

Kolkata, Dec 7 (UNI) West Bengal will set up an international standard B-school in collaboration with MIT (Massachusetes Institute of technology).

Speaking in an interactive session at the INFOCOM 2006, the Chief Minister today said, " We are in advance stages of discussion with the MIT to start a B school in joint venture." Asked, if he would invite FDI in Education sector, he categorically stated that, " We will not allow direct investment into this sector. Rather we will encourage collaborative efforts.

He also mentioned that Cambridge University has shown interest in the state and wants to set up an institution.

Talking about IT investments, he said, " We are trying to attract more IT investments in this sector. Though West Bengal is a late starter, it will soon catch up with cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore." UNI JYN KK RN1801
