Two persons arrests in fraud case

Agartala, Dec 07 (UNI) At least two persons, including a woman, were arrested by joint police team of West and South districts respectively in connection with the foreign bank draft fraud cases.

According to police, a special team from Agartala, Sonamura and Udaipur has been constituted to unearth the fraud ring involving foreign bank draft in a number of nationalised banks here during past few weeks.

While one Sanjit Saha was arrested from this capital city, a woman Bakul Begum, a house wife from Durgapura village close to the Bangladesh border, was arrested yesterday in a search operation launched jointly by the police team of Agartala, Sonamura and Udaipur to unearth the gang.

Police, however, is continuing its search to nab the main leader of the gang involved in Saudi Arbaia based Al Raji Bank draft fraud in different banks of the west district.

The inquiry so far detected false 45 bank accounts and sealed them immediately. It was noted that an amount of more than Rs two crore was missing after withdrawl against false foreign bank draft from a nationalised bank.

A number of such draft were deposited to banks and encashed by the gang.

Police teams are looking into how the foreign false draft entered into the border sub-division of Sonamura.
