TN House adjourned sine die
Chennai, Dec 7 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Assembly, which met for a brief winter session, was adjourned sine die today.
As many as 12 Bills, including the one on introduction of Value Added Tax (VAT) and abolition of Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional colleges, were introduced and passed during the session.
The Assembly also unanimously adopted a resolution on making Tamil the official language of Madras High Court. Another resolution seeking the Centre's intervention in the Sri Lankan issue was also adopted.
The session, which commenced on December 4, was marred by en masse eviction of AIADMK members and walkout by MDMK and CPI(M) members in protest against the Chair's denial to raise alleged violence during local body elections.
The House also passed a condolence resolution on the demise of former Speaker K Kalimuthu.
