Thirtyfive non-metro airports identified for modernisation

New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) Amritsar, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Jaipur, Udaipur, Bhopal and Goa are among the 35 non-metro airports identified for modernisation in the country, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel informed the Lok Sabha today.

Others in the list included Guwahati, Madurai, Mangalore, Agatti, Indore, Dehradun, Agra, Dimapur, Agartala, Jammu and Pune.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has already appointed five groups of Global Technical Advisors (GTAs) and Indian Financial Consultants(IFCs) to preprare Techno Economic Feasibility Reports (TEFRs) for each airport selected for modernisation.

AAI has also initiated action for air side development of these airports.

It is proposed to complete the modernisation and expansion of these airports by 2010-2011, Mr Patel said in a written reply.
