Six bank officials held for fraud

Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Dec 7 (UNI) Six employees of the Bhavnagar Nagrik Sahkari Bank were arrested today in connection with a loan scam worth Rs 14.81 crore that broke out sometime back.

The accused identified as Assistant General Manager Ashwinbhai B Bhatt, Loan Supervisor Chandubhai M Amreliya, Chief Cashier Bhadresh Shah, Cashier Shailesh Sheth, Auditor MD Vora and Loan Officer Jayantbhai Shah, used to disburse loans on fake gold ornaments, police said. Three gold appraisers who were part of the scam were also arrested a week ago.

The scam came to light with the seizure of accused Jayant Shah's diary.

The police will be producing the accused in court tomorrow for remanding them to their custody, police added.
