New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) On the heels of Supreme Court quashing the Foreigners (Tribunal for Assam) Order 2006, the Shiv Sena today demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh convene an all party meeting, including parties from Asom, to discuss the ways of implementing the Court orders.

Shiv Sena Parliamentary Party leader Anant G Geete, in a note to Dr Singh, said the issue of determination and deportation of illegal Bangladeshi migrants in North-East, particularly Asom, was of vital national concern for the last few decades.

''The influx from this country had alterred demographic balance in the North-Eastern region subverting socio-cultural and economic identity. It also had wide ranging strategic implications involving s ecurity and integrity of the nation,'' he claimed.

He said the Centre had enacted Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunal) Act (IMDT Act), ''a pro-infiltrator law'' for Asom, making the burden of proof against the person living illegally in India on the complainant, and noted the court had struck it down as unconstitutional.

'' The UPA, thereafter had enacted the Foreigner's (Tribunals for Asom) Order 2006, bringing back the provisions of scrapped IMDT Act to pander to the 'minority vote bank,' he said, adding that this Asom specific order was quashed by the Apex Court, which had directed the Government to constitute sufficient number of Tribunals under Foreigners (Tribunal) Order 1964 to effectively deal with illegal Bangladeshis residing in Asom.

''We demand the Government convene all party meet including political parties in Asom to discuss the implementation of this order,'' Mr Geete wrote.
