Seven booked for cheating ICICI bank

Mumbai, Dec 7 (UNI) The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police has registered a case of cheating against seven persons for allegedly duping ICICI Bank's Bandra branch in western suburbs, to the tune of Rs 71.08 lakh by producing forged documents and opening a bogus bank account.

The accused, identifeid as Javed Wahi, Vivek Khandare, Firoz Ahmed Sheikh, Mahesh Kamble, Dharmesh Thakkar, Sushant Mistri and Santosh Sharma, had allegedly taken a loan of Rs 71,08,330 on February 23, this year from the bank and defaulted on paying the monthly instalments, sources said.

A cheating case was then registered by Bank Officer Mithun Sadhukumar Bhatacharya (25) with the EOW of the Mumbai police.

Investigations are on, sources added.
