Rupee opens low at 44.72/74 against per USD

Mumbai, Dec 7: The Rupee today opened lower by three paise and was quoted at Rs 44.72/74 against the US dollar as compared to it's previous close of Rs 44.69/70 per USD, on scattered dollar demand by foreign and nationalised banks, traders said.

Later, the domestic currency rose at Rs 44.66/68 during the mid-morning session, due to short-covering by local dealers.

The Rupee went higher again by five paise at Rs 44.64/65 per USD from it's previous close, because of renewal selling of the dollar by foreign and local banks, traders added.
