Renu Jogi leads in Kota bypoll in Chhattisgarh

Bilaspur, Dec 7: Congress nominee Mrs. Renu Jogi, wife of former chief minister Ajit Jogi, has established a lead of about 4000 votes in at the end of second round of counting in the by-election for Kota assembly seat in Chhattisgarh.

Counting of votes of Kota assembly by-election began at 8000 hours here this morning, amid elaborate security arrangements.

An estimated 78.14 per cent of the 1.46 lakh electorate had exercised their franchise in the December four by-poll which both the ruling BJP and the main opposition Congress considered it as prestigious mainly because of the presence of Dr Renu Jogi in the fray.

The ruling BJP is eagerly waiting for the poll outcome as chief minister Dr Raman Singh is completing three years in office today.

The result is expected by 1100 hours.
