'Prof mgmt, transparency imp for urban banking'
Kolhapur, Dec 7: There is a need of professional management and transparency in the administration of the urban co-operative banking sector for its survival, Reserve Bank of India deputy governor Dr Usha Thorat said.
Delivering a lecture on 'Urban Co-operative Banking' at the Shivaji University here, Ms Thorat said good administration with professional approach to increase capital and fulfil confidence of the money depositors and shareholders will help the struggling sector to come out from the present situation and lead a healthy development.
Co-operative urban banking had been set-up for the welfare of the commonman and the central bank was actively considering to prepare a time-bound programme for the sector's improvement, she added.
