POTA Court remands Shaikh to 15 days police custody

Ahmedabad, Dec 7 (UNI) Underworld don Chhota Shakeel's brother-in-law Arif Aboobakar Shaikh, the main suspect in the killing of former Gujarat State Home Minister Harin Pandya, was today remanded to 15 days police custody by a designated POTA Court here.

After hearing arguments, Judge Sonia Gokani granted Ahmedabad police the custody of Shaikh to interrogate him further in the matter.

Shaikh was produced before the POTA Court after he was handed over to State police by Mumbai police on December 5.

Earlier, Gujarat police had last week sought custody of Shaikh from the Metropolitan Magistrate at the Esplanade Court in Mumbai.

The Court granted transit custody of Shaikh till December 11 to Ahmedabad police and he could be sent back once police had finished interrogating him.
