Pirated CDs of 'Dhoom 2', 'Vivah', 'ASMM' seized, supplier arrested

New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) A major racket dealing in supply of pirated CDs in the capital has been busted with the seizure of pirated VCDs and DVDs of latest films, like 'Dhoom 2', 'Vivah' and 'Apna Sapna Money Money', from the Sarai Kale Khan area of South Delhi.

In all, 2655 pirated MPs, VCD and DVDs of films like the Hrithik-Aishwarya-Abhishek starrer 'Dhoom 2', Shahid-Amrita Starrer 'Vivah', 'Gangster', 'Jaanemann', 'Fanaa', 'Apna Sapna Money Money', Naksha' and many others were recovered yesterday from one Ganesh Chaudhry, who supplied these CDs from his residence in Sarai Kale Khan.

The arrest came following a raid at Ganesh's house at Nangli Razapur in Sarai Kale Khan, after Suresh Nagar, an authorised representative of the Indian music industry, complained that some persons in South Delhi were undertaking illegal business of manufacturing, distributing and selling audio cassetes and VCDs/DVDs, copyrights of which vest in the company of the complainant.

Ganesh was arrested on his identification by Suresh and CDs worth lakhs recovered from his residence, police said. The mandatory requirement as envisaged under provisions of the Copyright Act i.e, the name and address of producer, name of copyright holder, censor certificate etc, were found missing on the recovered CDs.

A case under the Copyright Act and IPC has been registered against the accused.

Investigation was on to find the source of the pirated CDs.

More arrestes were likely in this connection, police said.
