PB to cover more areas to broadcast kisanvani prog

Hyderabad, Dec 7 (UNI) Prasar Bharati is planning to cover more areas to broadcast 'Kisanvani agricultural programme' through the local FM stations for the benefit of the farming community in the country.

Informing this to reporters here today, Deputy Director-General Prasar Bharathi Ms Grace Kujur and Incharge Director Audience Research Dr M N Jha said presently, the kisavani agricultural programmes were aired through 86 stations in the country.

The idea of the programme was to provide information about agriculture, latest technology, use of pesticides, and other things to farmers to raise their income.

Stating that FM radios were catering to the needs of the locals and the farming community, by broadcasting in local dialect, and about 82 to 85 per cent farmers in the country were listening to the Kisanvani agricultural programmes, the audience research units were getting good encouragement for the programme.

Besides interviewing farmers every week, the audience research units were receiving their feedback and seeking suggestions to improve the contents relevant to the farmers. They also added that Ministry of Agriculture would provide financial assistance to produce the programme.

Altogether 58 audience researach units were functioning in the country to provide guidelines, they said adding that the feed back collected from farmers on the programmes were sent to the programme producers for modifications as per the needs of the farmers.

The two-day workshop here on kisanvani programme producers-researchers interface would discuss various matters on improving the programme.

The Prasar Bharati had already conducted sucn workshops in Shillong, Jaipur, Patna, Nasik and Thiruvanthapuram, they added.
