New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes here today launched the trial run of the 'Re-Inventing EPF India' Project of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in all the six pilot sites in the country.

The trial run is aimed at building confidence levels in all users at the field level and familiarising them with the software. Another purpose of the trial run is to ascertain the correctness of the benefit amount with the new software.

The pilot offices where the trial run was launched today are Patna, Indore, Karnal, Kota, Hyderabad and Mangalore.

The purpose of 'Re-Inventing EPF India' Project is to provide anytime-anywhere facility to the EPF subscriber and to settle claims within two to three days thus transforming EPFO into a world class social security organisation, said an official spokesperson here.

Launching the trial run at the 177th Meeting of the Central Board of EPFO Trustees, Minister Fernandes said the Organisation's efforts to switch over to a fully computerised environment through this project had raised hopes of better and efficient delivery of service in the minds of the subscribers.

He further urged EPFO to make constant and sincere efforts to take the project to its logical culmination at the earliest.

During the launch of the trial run one claim was settled online.

The Central Board of EPFO Trustees also approved, with certain amendments, the EPFO Annual Report for 2005-06 and the Budget Estimates of the Organisation for 2007-08 and Revised Estimates for 2006-07.
