Mumbai, Dec 7 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today held that the orders given by a division bench of Justice R M Lodha and S A Bobde on October 19, allowing performance of Chhat Puja at the Juhu Chowpatty, subject to the condition that no stages would be erected nor banners put up, were violated by Congress Leaders Sanjay Nirupam and Subhash Pasi.

Petitioner Save Juhu Association, while bringing the fact to the court's notice that Nirupam and Pasi, who have their own Bihari Trusts that conduct the Puja, had put up huge stages and political banners, submitted that they wanted to initiate contempt proceedings against the two for violating this court's order.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice H S Bedi and Justice V M Kanade directed that the order dated October 19 would hold for all the events/festivals allowed on the beach. The only relaxation considered or permitted would be use of loudspeakers but not beyond 2200 hrs.
