NCP to contest 35 seats in Punjab

Fatehgarh Sahib, Dec 7 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party would contest 35 out of 117 assembly seats scheduled to go to the polls in Punjab, Swaran Singh, state president of the party today said.

Talking to mediapersons here, he however did not rule out a possibility of an alliance with other like-minded parties in the satate but stressed that any decision in this regard will be taken by the party high command.

Mr Singh said his party's senior leaders including P A Sangma will shortly meet the party workers of Pathankot, Rupnager, Nawashahar, Amritsar, Mansa and Patiala in Punjab.

He said the party's national president Sharad Pawar would visit Punjab in January, 2007.
